@larsjohansson3971, I am glad you do :)
Also it’s more fun when you don’t need to pull up the notation
@kz.productions, yes I agree, it is :)
I know how to scale, etc...but I have trouble finding the key @ times...Tjanks
@christiand7437, you are wleocme :) This video is just about finding the notes, not finding keys.
@acousticguitarlessons Tjanks...Do you have a video on that?
Please make a video if possible on singing while playing guitar, specifically separating the rhythm of the guitar part from the singing because that really trips me up.
@astro6393 , already have :) Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/efeMJNhnLJo/v-deo.html
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I HATE strumming patterns and never in my life want to play DDU UDU again. Just within 10 minutes of watching your video, I apply the techniques and finally feel like my strumming is singing!!

How am I just now finding this? If I had been doing this for the last month, I would be able to make smooth chord transitions finally
@keychange6231, glad you like the lesson :)
This is an excellent lesson. Thanks man 💯. Subbed 👍💪
@masterbuilder3166, you are very welcome! And thanks for the sub, much appreciated! :)
Excellent! My biggest problem with fingerpicking - and 6/8 in particular - is that I always seem to end up swinging the pattern - irrespective of whether its appropriate or not!
@rebeccaabraham8652, 6/8 has a kind of swing feel to it when accenting beats 1 and 4, but yes, the quavers are straight not swung. Hope this video helps :)
It’d be nice to see the practical application.
@Rectitude4U, here are some videos I have on triad application: ua-cam.com/video/dhacbC6SmGs/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Vn4TiPj51N8/v-deo.html

@davidpatrick1813, thank you! :)
Perfect practice concept 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@GregMyser, glad you like it! :)
I am not able to listen to you, or follow you teaching. Instead I am admiring you, I am not a beginner, I can see you showing your guitar, nice, I can remember that, what your saying I am forgetting. Or am bored. You showing me a very nice guitar.
@roydsouza9129, I have no idea what you are trying to say.
Keep drilling these triads into my mind using all the different inversions on all the strings. I do know them but I don’t use them enough. These videos keep me in practice and I find myself using them more.
@johndelconte9915, that's great! Using them regularly is the key to really knowing them :)
I wonder: If i assign a color to each note, instead of just a letter name... you know color coding? In office work, it can really help with organization and finding things quickly. "Excel spreadsheets? They go in the green file. Word docs go in blue. " etc. What do you think? I can almost picture the fretboard now like that...
@pants_schmants, not so sure about that. Just naming the notes regularly will get you familiar with them in time. The colour-coded thing becomes another layer to get through to know the note names whoch adds time to working them out etc. Perhaps I am not understanding you properly, but it seems like an unnecessary step. Just name the notes :)
As stubborn as i am that is hard to do. One church I went to the pastor's daughter had no real sense of timing. So many times she would come in too early transitioning from a verse to the chorus or visa versa. She knew she was having problems. One time I was asked to play acoustic at a wedding with her vocal accompaniment. The song was Marry Me by Train. We went over it and over it to get her to learn the timing. As it turned out it went well.
@wfqsfg, yes it can take some practice to gel something with a singer, particularly if their sense of time is poor. Glad you got your performance sorted and it went well :)
This gentleman is so understated but phenomenal in his content and his easy going teaching technique. Great info for a non beginner level learner. Top notch content bro, kudos to you !!!
@babooger6839, thanks for the very kind words! Much appreciated and glad you like the videos :)
I've always found those Status Quo or Chuck Berry style shuffles difficult but I have workarounds.
@mikec3777, yes those stretches can be challenging. And yes, there are some handy workarounds that it seems you know :)
Can't hear that chord and not think about Neil Young's ' Old Man' that chord belongs to him.
@salciaburri5133, I'll have to check that out :)
When harmonising scales as a sequence of simple triads, the 'dim' chord is not 'half diminished' - it should be referred to simply as diminished. Only when we extend the chords to 7ths should we then refer to it as half diminished.
@squashfan9526, yes I am aware of that. That is my error, I should've said diminished :)
@@acousticguitarlessons ok, but you say half-diminished many times, and in your other videos too
@@squashfan9526 yes, I know. It’s a bad habit. I was taught to harmonise a scale in 7th chords first before triads many years ago, so I keep calling the 7 chord half diminished even though I know it’s diminished when there are only 3 voices.
@@acousticguitarlessons Well, let's see if you can shake off that bad habit - it's not a good look for a guitar tutor!
Is that capo from thalia?
Yes, it is. Love their capos!
Yes, open chords sound so much better than barre chords on an acoustic.
I think both sound fine on acoustic, but I get your point de open chords having much more resonance
I've been working on your superb lesson for 2 weeks. As a pro trainer myself I congratulate you on the structure and clarity, how you build, demo and take small steps with practical practice advice. Question: the 3 CAGED shapes you use for the C triad are (I think!) the A, E and D. Is there are G shape too between A and E? Best regards Neil
Thanks! Glad you liked the video and found it helpful. I don’t use the CAGED system, but no, as far as each string set is concerned there are only 3 of each triad (ie. root, 1st inv, and 2nd inv)
So glad I decided to watch this video in its entirety. Another tool added to my toolbag😊
Glad to hear and that you found the video helpful :)
Thanks, very informative, I like the fret board paper idea !
You are most welcome! :)
Thank you!
You are very welcome! :)
Solid lesson
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Hi I have short fingers. Well really everything is short as I am only 5 FT. And I always struggled with finger stretches at the top of the fret board where the spacing are a bit wider. I never heared anybody else give the tip about the thumb behind the middle finger instead of the index finger they just say make sure your thumb is straight. I even experimented with angling my thumb sideways to try and get more reach but that always ended in frustration as well. I am going to try this technique and hopefully it may alleviate my issues. Thank you. BTW your guitar looks cool what model is it?👌
Great you found the lesson helpful! Let me know how you go with it :) The guitarist a Guild S4CE
